Demand drivers
Three forces are pulling air-cooled cabinet cooling forward: edge computing moving equipment outdoors, energy storage scaling faster than liquid cooling can follow, and grid upgrades in regions where ambient temperatures regularly exceed 45 °C.
Regional patterns
Middle East and North Africa demand concentrates on high-ambient outdoor units. Southeast Asia leans toward corrosion resistance for coastal sites. Europe and North America increasingly specify Modbus or SNMP monitoring as a baseline rather than an option.
What buyers now ask for
- Wide operating range: -40 °C to +55 °C
- Filter clogging alarms instead of fixed service intervals
- Refrigerants with lower GWP
- Documented thermal calculations, not catalogue derating tables
Outlook
We expect the category to keep growing at a mid-single-digit rate, with growth concentrated in units above 5 kW where passive cooling stops being viable.
