An edge room holds two or three racks in a space that was never designed for IT. Cooling has to be added without a raised floor, a CRAC unit or a facilities team on site.
Redundancy without doubling cost
Two units at 50% load each cost less to run than one at 100% and survive a single failure. We size for N+1 with the second unit in standby rather than running both at part load.
Monitoring
SNMP or Modbus into the existing DCIM. Alarms on temperature, filter differential and compressor state, with a dry contact for the building system.
